I picked up the book Outliers again today in hopes of finishing.
This book is very thought provoking. I would love to hear from anyone who has read it and what their thoughts were following. I have two chapters to go and have to say that the most fascinating sections so far have to be "The Trouble With Geniuses" part one and two. In these two sections the author challenges the idea that someone who is a genius is automatically guaranteed success and that talents can be innate. He talks a lot about circumstances, opportunities and hard work being the most important runways to success...which I can't really argue with at all. There is a lot more to his theories and they would definitely be worth exploring if you are questioning what it takes to be successful.
I am looking forward to finishing the book and reviewing it using some of the questions in the back section.Should be fun!

I'd like to read Outliers. Really, I would. But when I think of how many books are on my nightstand right now, I don't think I can add another. Though, it will definitely be going on my "to be read... someday" list.

I have read it, & wish I could comment thoroughly, but it's been a while. I do believe that circumstances (like the birthdays & hockey players, or the Beatles' constant playing in Germany) do aid success, but the book added many parts together, didn't it? I loved the theories, mostly because they were new to me. Would be fun to be a book group, wouldn't it?
I haven't read the book, but your post reminded me that it's on my wishlist to read. My mom keeps recommending it to me. :-) I'm glad to hear you are also finding it to be though-provoking!
